REPELLO
In REPELLO, Philipp Scheel wants to artistically portray the strength of women working in male dominated industries, especially technical segments. The combination of slicked back hair, huge technical style glasses and technical materials such as iron, acrylic and thick denim, reflects on the working environment, calling for functional and sturdy equipment, designed to protect the human body during oftentimes physically exhausting work. That, however, takes nothing away from the femininity and confidence these women have. Instead, the materials create a look of unapologetic confidence and identification for women to stand equal in technical industries, regardless of their appearance to their fellow workers, bosses and those further perpetuating a system of gender repression and pre-built role models.
